Sit & Go tournaments have become very popular. Online poker rooms are perfect for Sit & Go. The reason is simple: There are a lot of players online and the tournaments get started fast since the tables fill up quick. The name of the game pretty much explains itself. You simply sit down at a table and when the right amount of players has been seated the tourney "gos" (or starts). There are a lot of different types of Sit & go tournaments. More about that later!

The obvious reasons to play Sit & Go tournament are (of course) to have fun and win some money (just like in any poker game). But there are also plenty of other reasons to play Sit & go. As we see it, the two most important reasons are:

• You can play a lot of poker with a limited amount of money and low risk. Sit & go can be a great start for players who want to get to know the game without wasting too much money.
• For players that learn the right strategy Sit & Go tournaments can be very profitable.

We have tried to create this Sit & Go School in hope to contribute to your efforts of becoming a player that masters the game. We aim to give you both a wider understanding important concepts about the game as well as a strategy for how to play. Hopefully this will let you excel in the game. It should be noted that this school is focused on the strategic play for Sit & Go and not basic poker rules. The most common type of Sit & Go tournaments seat 10 players. This Sit & Go school has been created for 10 player Sit & Go tournaments. There are also other types of Sit & Go tournaments like Sit & Go for 6 players (short handed) and multitable Sit & Go. These types are not taught in this poker school. (Even though we don´t cover these types of Sit & go tournaments you will still be able to use a lot of the knowledge gained here when playing other types of Sit & Go tournaments.)

The price money is usually divided 50% to the winner, 30% to the player finishing second and 20% to the player finishing in third place. Make sure you always know the specific rules for the game your about to play. In this way you avoid unpleasant surprises.

Each chapter is designed so that you, step by step, can learn to play solid Sit & Go poker.

1. Sit & Go Winning Strategy. The first chapter covers different types of strategy and how each strategies affect your winnings. The choice of strategy will determine how well you do in the long run. Here we also discuss the importance of a sufficient bankroll.
2. Early stage Sit & go strategy. This chapter covers the first rounds when there are about 7-10 players still at the table.
3. Middle level strategy. When the blinds have gone up and there are fewer players at the tables you need to change your strategy. This chapter covers strategy when there are about 6-4 players still at the table.
4. In the money: ITM! This chapter covers play when there are only three players left and how to maximize your winnings.
5. Sit & Go mistakes. A lot of players make severe mistakes over and over again. In this chapter we learn how to avoid some of them.
6. Sit & Go variations. This chapter discusses how you need to change your strategy when playing in different types Sit & go tournaments such as jackpot-tournaments, satellites and speed tournaments.
7. Where do you play Sit & Go? This chapter is a guide to the poker rooms where we recommend that you play.
8. Statistics. In the last chapter we give you a free tool for keeping track of your Sit & go statistics. We have created a spreadsheet that gives you the opportunity to analyze your wins and losses in such a way that you can calculate your expected future winnings.

By using the knowledge and strategy we provide in the chapters above we believe that you should be able to beat low and medium buy in tournaments. However we can´t guarantee anything, but we have used the strategy ourselves and found that it works. Even so we also strongly recommend reading books about poker to improve your skills. You can find some of the books we recommend in our poker reading strategy found here. As you play and study you will gain more experience and hopefully develop your own thoughts about how to play.

This school has been written with online poker in mind, but we do not see why this strategy would not work in live games as well. However remember that if you play live you might need to loosen up earlier if the blinds are moving up quickly.
